Exciting funding news from Duke University! 🎉

We are thrilled to celebrate the renewal of the Center for Combinatorial Gene Regulation, a Center of Excellence in Genomic Science (CEGS) funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). Originally funded in 2020, this renewed investment recognizes the Center's continued groundbreaking contributions to understanding how the genome influences human health and disease.

This project is tackling one of the most significant challenges in modern genomics: understanding how combinations of genes work together to control cell fate decisions and contribute to disease. By developing next-generation genomic technologies, advanced computational models, and innovative CRISPR-based approaches, the CEGS aims to reveal the complex regulatory mechanisms underlying conditions ranging from chromosomal disorders such as 22q11, sex chromosome aneuploidies, and Down syndrome..

This renewed award will support collaboration among an outstanding team of Duke researchers, including Duke Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies (CAGT) faculty that span many different departments: Drs. Greg Crawford (Pediatrics), Charlie Gersbach (BME), Adrianna San Roman (MGM), Emma Chory (BME), Andrew Allen (B&B), and Bill Majoros (B&B). The program is co-led by Drs. Greg Crawford (Duke), Tim Reddy (Altius Institute for Biomedical Sciences), and Raluca Gordân (UMass Chen Medical School). Together, they are helping drive a paradigm shift in human genetics, making it possible to better understand the regulatory complexity of the genome and accelerate the translation of genetic discoveries into new therapeutic opportunities.
