Creating Outstanding Opportunities for Postdoctoral Trainees (COOPT) in Genomic Technologies
COOPT in Genomic Technologies is a virtual symposium for prospective postdocs. The event invites a group of prospective postdocs to give brief presentations of their own research, learn about exciting projects currently underway in CAGT, meet with current trainees, and explore future research opportunities in labs of interest during 1:1 discussions.

Research Triangle Park
Research Triangle Park (RTP) is home for more than 250 companies and 50,000 people with expertise in fields such as micro-electronics, telecommunications, biotechnology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and environmental sciences. Industries invest more than $300 million in research and development (R&D) at the region’s universities each year – double the average R&D investment for innovation clusters elsewhere in the nation. In their 2019 Life Sciences Outlook, Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle, named RTP the nation’s fourth-leading life science base among major metro hubs. The rankings are determined by the following factors: life science employment concentration and growth, company concentration, venture capital funding, NIH funding and patents. According to a Labor Statistics data report, the Triangle area enjoyed a 14% growth in life science jobs from 2013 - 2018, beating the US total of 11%.
